Richard the inspector did not have the knowledge to properly evaluate our impact resistant windows even when told that they were impact resistant as per the current owners statement. I have no history in this, I’m new to FL. It’s not my job, or anything I knew about but I did google the subject and learned the etching that was on the Anderson Windows confirmed that they were indeed impact resistant. The wind mitigation survey also stated we only had toe-nails holding our roof on. This is a hurricane area in Florida. We had a roofer come to give us a quote for installing them only to find out that all Richard had to do was shove the Insulation aside, and it was quite obvious that we indeed did have clips. In fact, he stated that the sturdiness of the roof was beyond code. Altogether, our insurance was going to cost us $5500 more per year because our home was lacking these things. When talking to Richard regarding this, he did offer to come out and look it over again to confirm, but his attitude rather than contrite and concerned was indignant, that he certainly couldn’t be wrong. We hired another inspector to do the wind mitigation survey, who confirmed that indeed the first one was entirely insufficient. When I called POMI and informed them of this and asked for them to at least cover the hundred dollar cost of the new Wind mitigation Survey (we had paid $960 for the whole inspection which is hard to trust after this) they refunded $69 that they charge. That was the last straw. There are likely other former clients who are paying thousands of dollars more for their insurance because of a poor ability to do the correct inspection in a hurricane prone area. I’d strongly advise against using their service Inspector.

Sure, I could have saved $100 by using a local inspector that would only spend 1 to 2 hours inspecting my house and most likely overlook many items that Richard was able to discover. I’ll definitely use POMI on my next home inspection.

I scheduled a General Home, 4 pt, wind mitigation, and pool inspection on the website due to their office being closed when I tried calling the evening before Thanksgiving. I had an email response within a few hours and they said feel free to reach out anytime if we needed anything. The inspection went very well with Rich doing a thorough job and answering all my buyers questions. Will definitely use POMI Services again for future clients.
